For our inaugural Brotherhood Spotlight, we will be featuring junior Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management major Catie Wolff of the Eta Pledge Class of the Fall 2012 Semester. When asked why she rushed AKPsi, she said “I was having a hard time transitioning from my 600 person high school to 16,000 people at Delaware. I wanted to get more involved in the business school and I figured I would see what AKPsi was all about.”

Catie names her leadership roles within the chapter as her greatest success with Alpha Kappa Psi. She also attributes finding the courage to advance into her role as Executive Vice President from a helpful upperclassman, stating “I never expected to run for EVP as a sophomore and I’m so glad [they] told me they believed in me.” Catie enjoyed her time on the executive board and working with her fellow members “to inspire positive growth for Omega Alpha.”

Now, Catie is gearing up for a new journey as an intern at the Renaissance Tuscany Ciccio Marriott Resort and Spa in Italy from September 2015 until December 2015! She will have her hands full as she will be working roughly 50 hours per week within front office operations and guest services, but she is hoping to work in a few trips around Europe whenever possible.

When asked where she sees herself in 5 years, Catie hopes to delve into the management and business administration side of hospitality. “I hope to be in an administration or management position within a large hospital or healthcare facility where I work to improve the quality of service patients receive as well as the overall experience for the patient and their families. As an HRIM major most people expect a hotel manager or restaurant operator as dream careers,” she continues, “HRIM is so much more than that.” Good luck, Catie!

Alumni Spotlight

Alumni Jeff Asuncion graduated with a double major in Finance and Management as well as a double minor in Economics and International Business with a concentration in Spanish Studies. He is currently working at Deloitte Consulting as a Business Technology Analyst.

As a part of our first ever Alumni Spotlight, we decided to ask him what role Alpha Kappa Psi played in getting him to where he is today. “AKPsi taught me the importance of being able to network and really helped me work on my interaction skills. AKPsi also prepared me to hold leadership positions, which are essential when working for a consulting firm” said Asuncion. When asked about his favorite part of AKPsi, he reflected on how much he enjoys seeing the amount of which Omega Alpha chapter has flourished since he first became a brother. “Throughout my last three years in AKPsi, we had grown exponentially, with each member benefitting in both a social and business sense” he said.

As for where he sees himself in 5 years? “I see myself continuing to be in consulting, but possibly moving into Strategy and Operations or Human Capital consulting.” We wish him all the best in his endeavors!
