Rush Tips and the AKPsi Experience with VPM Kayla Clausen / by Josiah Taylor

It’s rush week! With Meet the Brothers events just a day away, we sat down with our Vice President of Membership (VPM) Kayla Clausen to ask about her AKPsi experience and any tips she has for rushing this semester.

Kayla is a Junior Operations Management and Marketing major from Huntington, New York. She was a part of our Alpha Alpha pledge class in the Fall of 2021.

AKPsi: What’s your Why AKPsi?

Kayla: Coming to UD, I knew I wanted to be involved in an organization with a big presence in the business school and beyond. After hearing about AKPsi through my Introduction to Business course I took my freshman fall, I knew that this was the place I wanted to be. AKPsi allows its members to grow exponentially in professional and social senses, which is exactly what I needed as a freshman. We always say you get what you put into your experience so from day one. I put in 110% and have gotten back exactly that.

What was your favorite part of rushing?

My favorite part of rushing was meeting all the brothers and forming connections right from the start. The first brother I spoke to during Meet the Brothers gave me so much encouragement, which only made me want to be a part of this brotherhood more.

What are some tips you have for rushing AKPsi this spring?

Some tips I would give to PNMs rushing this spring are to be ready to talk about themselves, be genuine, and come prepared.

Is there anything you’d advise PNMs to avoid?

The number one thing I would advise PNMs to avoid is pretending to be someone they’re not. We want to see your personality shine through and get to know the real you. AKPsi really is a family and we can’t wait to get to know you!

How can PNMs stay in the loop with AKPsi rush information?

The best way for PNMs to stay in the loop is to follow our Instagram @akpsi_ud or email me directly at udelakpsi.svpm@gmail.com.

We can’t wait to see you at a rush event! Join us on Tuesday, February 28, or Wednesday, March 1 in Perkins Rodney at 5:30pm.
